Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Sessions

Menstruation is a natural biological process, yet it remains one of the most stigmatized and least discussed topics in many communities. At CEHRO India, we believe that awareness is the first step toward empowerment. Our ongoing efforts to promote menstrual health and hygiene aim to dismantle long-standing taboos and create a more informed, confident, and healthy society.

This year, CEHRO India organized a series of impactful menstrual hygiene awareness sessions across communities in Inder Camp, Shankar Camp, and Sankar Camp. These sessions served as safe spaces for open dialogue, allowing women and girls to ask questions, share experiences, and learn about proper hygiene practices.

The outcome? Increased awareness, reduced stigma, and improved health practices among hundreds of women and girls. More importantly, these initiatives fostered a supportive community environment where menstrual health is no longer a subject of shame, but one of strength.

Celebrating May as Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Month
In May, CEHRO India proudly celebrated Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Month, reinforcing our year-round commitment to this cause. As part of the campaign, we distributed sanitary napkins across multiple underserved areas, including Nepali Camp, ensuring access to essential hygiene products for girls and women who need them the most.

Our collaboration with Sofy (Unicharm India) amplified the reach and effectiveness of our menstrual health initiatives. With their support, we conducted informative and engaging sessions tailored to the needs of underprivileged communities in South West Delhi.

Impact

The sessions had a strong and meaningful impact on the participants. Many women and girls reported feeling more confident in managing their periods and expressed that this was the first time they had openly discussed menstrual health. The program helped break long-standing taboos and encouraged participants to speak freely about issues they previously considered shameful or uncomfortable. Some women even acknowledged experiencing menstrual health problems and expressed a desire to seek medical help. This openness marked a significant shift in mindset and behavior.

Emotional and Social Impact

At CEHRO India, menstrual hygiene is not just a health issue — it's a matter of equality, dignity, and human rights. We are committed to expanding our efforts, reaching more communities, and ensuring that no girl or woman is left behind due to misinformation or lack of access.
