Ayan 10 years old child, studied in 4th grade. His family is from a socially marginalized group in Munirka Village. His parents are not even educated. His father works as a manual laborer but whatever he earns all he used to spend it in consuming alcohol and his mother cleans houses, washes clothes as livelihood. They all live together in a joint family including grandmother and uncle’s family with a total of 10 members in a congested room of 10’*10’, his uncle also passed away one month back. Now, the only source of income for the whole family is his mother’s job and the whole household burden is on Ayan’s mother and his aunt’s shoulder who also cleans houses and washes clothes. With the small amount his mother and aunt earned from their work get difficult to run the house with food, clothes and other necessities of the whole family. Since there is fight for food and other necessities in the house everyday so the education of the children takes back seat. Ayan has two siblings and three cousins. All 5 of them come to CEHRO for free education in An After School Learning Programme under PADHO PADHAO INITIATIVE. As their parents are not able to provide for their children education. So CEHRO decided to take AYAN under care because he showed great desire and potential to learn.
