Sponsor a Child

A successful life would mean an employment opportunity which can support their families economically and an education which can make them a responsible citizen. There are multiple problems to achieve this huge goal against the current trend of less than 10% students going to the college from Munirka Village, Delhi. The reasons for students who are not able to get a job, reach college or finish school can range from academic failure, socio-income background, disinterest and loss of hope in the system, gender discrimination, disease and malnutrition.

Categories

The socio-economic condition plays a critical role in the future of our children. We tried to categorize these socio-economic indicators so that we can support the children as per their needs. In category 1, we have children with generational poverty and inconsistent family income not more than 8-9 thousand per month. In category 2, we have first generation learners with least resources, motivation and guidance from the parents at a gross family income of less than 1.5 lakhs per annum through all sources. Category 3 comprises of children, whose parents went to school but dropped out. They are stuck in the low family income of less than 2 lakh per annum in Delhi with a large family size. In all of these categories the burden of day to day struggles forces education and health to take a back seat.

Below are the parameters by which we have decided the categories. A student has to fulfil at least 4/6 indicators to be in a particular category. You can see real examples of Ishika, Junaid and Devika in category 1, 2 and 3 respectively. Read about their struggles, dreams and aspirations.
